La Musica Te Liam Swiggs Top Ten #001 ~ January – February 2014

Since this a blog about me sharing the music I have discovered, I thought I shall give you all a little insight into to the ears, mind & musical selections of your truly, Liam Swiggs.

These Top Ten list’s that I shall be releasing normally on the first Sunday of every month, reflecting upon the music I have personally been listening too (Stuck on fucking repeat) throughout the previous 4 weeks or so via My Last Fm scrobbles, not my actual Top Ten tracks of the week as far as Fresh releases & attempting to rate them goes. Hopefully it should be a good mixture of all types of different music, or for example last month after I saw Danny Brown + Third3ye at Laneway, not to mention Third3ye’s new album On3ness, pretty much leaving the Top Ten tracks of my month totally dominated by them alone at one point. Discover & enjoy ~

#10 – Third3ye ~ Levitate
Dope new track off Third3ye’s brand new album, I nearly lost my shit when I heard this for my first time at Laneway when they performed it to the packed out silo on the Red Bull Sound Select Stage. Pick up the rest of the album + their first 2 Ep’s for free as well off their BandCamp (Linked above) ~

#9 – Dash Speaks ~ Je Veux La
Stumbled across this number before Christmas time on Mishka NYC’s BandCamp page (Which is stacked with free goodies), Rapping & Djing out of New York, Dash Speaks brings some serious heat, this goes super hard & I think that you probably should pick up the rest of the Ep for free too!

#8 – Danny Brown ~ Dope Song
If you know me personally you will probably know that Danny Brown is my favorite rapper ever and I don’t hesitate to argue that he just might be the greatest rapper ever. According to my LastFm the most listened to artist in my iTunes ever (surpassing Cannibal Corpse… I know, I was a rowdy 15 year old) because I really can’t get enough. Any track he features he in he seems to make the song if not be the best part about it no matter how forced some ciphers are, all of his work from Detroit State of Mind to his latest release Old is thoroughly awesome & also a really cool journey of his progression as Danny Brown. Dope Song is an absolutely essential track for anyone that vaguely enjoys Hip Hop &  I had the privilege of experiencing by far the best live performance musically I have ever seen and to witness this song live, Dope Song, will seriously stay with me for ever. Intense ~

#7 – Nick Catchdubs ~ Gas Involved
Now I dunno about you but I spend a lot of time in my avoiding shit music, so when I played this to my mother and she said she had heard it on Mai Fm ( ” The Home of The Hottest RNB & Hip Hop” ~ How many fucking times have we heard that) I was sort of taken back in shock thinking surely not. After bumping this very regularly for a few weeks I then heard the original version of Gas Pedal by Sage The Gemini & yeah. Wow. What a turn around! Nick Catchdubs is a Fool’s Gold Dj that reguarly puts out tight joints, grab the rest of Jiggy Blends 1 & 2 off his Soundcloud ~

#6 – LatinAotearoa ~ Let It Go (Los Chicos Altos Remix)
I personally can’t tell you to much about this one, but I have been really enjoying this track for a long time & have only recently got my hands on LatinAotearoa’s only album Sonido De LatinAoteroa and as I was doing my research I have also only just personally discovered Los Chicos Altos myself! Seems like they have a lot of similar remixes, Check them both out!

#5 – Ryan Hemsworth ~ Danny Brown’s Kush Coma (Kawaii Yoshino Yoshikawa Version)
I have only recently just discovered Mr. Hemsworth for myself & have been totally blown away with everything I’ve come across so far. This track in particular so much so, I enjoy it more than Danny Brown’s Original version off Kush Coma itself! I definetly suggest you pick up the rest of the RyanPack V.1 Here which is particularly dope  & definitely be sure to check out some of his older works ~

#4 – Edward Waaka ~ Love & Protection
Around about a year old, I found this whilst listening to the bro Tony Tz’s (From Team Dynamite) Feel Good Happy Days Mix Tape Vol earlier in January, really nice track to listen to & I love the way the styles of music complement each other so well, something I normally wouldn’t always necessarily enjoy but this is great ~

#3 – Flying Lotus ~ Flotus
Flying Lotus is definitely one of my favorite people in general when it comes to music, and every aspect of it. He has some of the coolest music videos out, he raps  & produces some of the best shit out. Right Here is like an all access pass into the work & mind of the man himself, just get it. This track also really helped me relax was flying to Auckland for Laneway late last month, something I don’t seem to overly enjoy what so ever, but actually managed to have a good time as far as flying at 6:30 am in the morning goes. Cool, I know ~

#2 – JBrown ~ I Like It When Ya (Instrumental)
One of the coolest cats I know, JBrown is a local producer from Auckland & currently living in Sydney, everything he ever touches turns to gold. Along with the deadly duo of JBrown & The Mic Smith (who’s song “Big Fresh” is where I got the inspiration to name this blog), JBrown also churns out beats of the finest quality on his own. There isn’t many musicians I hold in such high regard personally & musically like JBrown. Seriously, check it out ~

#1 – Duck Sauce ~ Louie The First
Stuck. On. Repeat. I think I’m actually yet to come across someone who doesn’t enjoy this track, some of Fool’s Gold finest Dj’s A-Trak (The founder of Fool’s Gold Records) & Armand Van Helden team together to make Duck Sauce & some of the funkiest tracks coming out today. Louie The First is like some fucking ultimate revival of Hot Chocolate’s Brother Louie, I’ve been playing this everywhere I go & i’m sure that you’re going to love it too ~
